• Words up to only 4 kana characters long.
• Simple words like あかい (akai).

Include level two words. This includes:

• Hiragana and katakana.
• Includes dakuten and handakuten.
• Includes chouonpu. (ex. "トー" becomes "too".)
• More difficult words like カレンダー (karendaa).

Include level three words. This includes:

• Hiragana and katakana. Some words have both.
• Includes dakuten and handakuten.
• Includes chouonpu. (ex. "トー" becomes "too".)
• Includes sokuon.
• Includes yoon.
• Hard words like ほっきょくかい (hokkyakutai).
